Morning light casts shadow

Bringing hope to each day

Hidden Hearts Within

Hoping to blog each day this month. Encouraged by Effy Wild and her blog along.

Finding words to speak from the heart.

Not as easy as it once was.

One way I spoke previously was thru haiku via Haiku My Heart

Finding those few syllables brings attention to the details of the heart.

Hoping you find hope and light this day.

#10DCAC April Day 9

Scribble, Scrabble Day 9 Prompt (1)

It’s really all about the marks, isn’t it? Those scratches and scribbles and mark making open the door to creating a piece that says something.

There are times when I just want to scribble with charcoal or with a marker. It isn’t doodling, it is a definite random scribble that comes out.

There is such a feeling of freedom in scribble without a plan, just making those marks.

I used Tombow markers with this piece. I love how adding water with the Tombow creates a watercolor look!

What can you do with some scribbling and scrabbling?

What other artists have scribbled? A few of my favorites are:

Cy Twombly

Elaine De Kooning

Lee Krasner

Joan Mitchell

What artists have I missed?

Do you have a favorite artist who scribbled?

Hard to believe another 10 Day Choose Art Challenge is coming to an end. April 10 is our last prompt for this month.

Hope you have enjoyed the prompts!

Day 7 Abstractish #2

10 Day Choose Art Challenge

Abstract-ish Art

“Abstract art is all about expressing an idea using composition, color, and materials without relying on immediately recognizable visual references.”   Danielle Krysa

I love to look at abstract art. I can get lost in the pieces. They can speak so eloquently and so deeply. Do you feel the same way?

I never feel that I can quite create that eloquent, deep feeling in my own art. I try and I will keep trying. I wonder if I think from my head too much as I create rather than just letting my intuition go. I am more comfortable with representational art. I call my abstract pieces “abstract-ish”.

“Denim” – Mandy Thompson

An artist who does NOT make abstract-is art is also one of my favorite artists. Mandy Thompson, creates  pieces that speak to the deep part of me. Her abstract pieces bring me such light and hope. Here is what she says about her abstract pieces on her website.

“For those of us who know life is both beautiful and busted… Having faced a few painful circumstances, I have come to see the beauty hidden among brokenness. If you look closely, you will see broken and beat up layers behind much of my work. My pieces reach beyond abstract art and fashionable colors, to bring a message of harmony, reconciliation, and hope.

My message is this: Life is not without pain, but it is also not without beauty. When you look at my work, I invite you to take a look at your own life–at your own cracked and smeared messes.  I believe you will see beauty even there.”

Hoping you take time today and choose art. Each time we take a few minutes for art makes room for beauty in our lives. And don’t we all need more beauty?

Thank you for being a part of our 10 Choose Art Challenge. Lynne and I are grateful for your participation.

Day 5 – Feathers, Feather, Everywhere

Do you get excited when  you find a feather? I do. I view them as a gift. My collection of feathers has grown – and I find each one beautiful and meaningful.

I’ve used them in art pieces but most of them I treasure just as they are.

How can you use feathers in your art? I love to draw them. I’ve seen some gorgeous feathers done in watercolor and I love the artists who paint on the feathers! So many things can be done. There is no limit!

Please share your creation. Don’t forget to use #10DCAC on IG or Facebook.

It is fun to see new artists joining this month.

Thank you for being a part of our choose art challenge.

Hoping you choose to ART today!
